Very likely I should just leave well enough alone, but this bust half has a strange brownish stain or haze on the obverse that has always bothered me a little. It's otherwise pretty darn pristine for a bust half and PCGS gave it an MS-63 grade. Anyone have any thoughts about whether it would be worth having NCS take a look? I've emailed them several times about possible conservation for this and other coins but they've never responded. Maybe that lack of response means "no, we can't do anything with them"?

This one's a prime candidate for NCS. Busties are in sufficient demand for the PCGS resale advantage to be much lessened, and it's a stupendous coin.

If it was mine I would leave it as is. Beautiful coin.

Hard to tell from the pics if the brown stuff is old dip residue or not. NCS should be able to remove it, but will also strip the surface a little further. If the brown stuff bothers you, sell her off and find another. JMHO.
Rest in Peace

The brown is kind of unattractive. I would send it to NCS if it were mine. That being said, I dont have a lot of experience with bust halves, but that is by far the best struck bust half I have ever seen. It almost looks re-engraved, definitely worth restoring.
