This is a question to the general public:
What do you consider the absolute minimum detail that HAS to be present, to qualify for a particular grade? ONE detail, only. Consider it a "crash course" in grading. Is it practical? Thanks for your thoughts, and participation.
I am not sure if the FE would qualify, or be possible to include with the IHC, or not. If so, fine, if not it will be the subject for another question, some other time.

Not sure if this is what your asking. All the letters of LIBERTY on head band must be readable to assign a grade of Fine.

Rick Snow has written an IHC grading guide with simple criteria for assigning grades. Here is the link (pdf file)

Thanks for the responses. I havr the 3-ring notebook that Rick has available, but it is very difficult to read, even inder my CCTV monitor, so I was truing to "simplify the info, down to one detail< (doe general grading, rather than being more accurate), thus, the one detail request. I have used the link, and it provides me a large image, with which I refer to, and have graded a tube og 1893 cents, just to test my observation, and the differences, at first were hardly noticable, but as I went thru them, I noticed I was "seeing morte detail, and began being more pricise in the separation. Out of the tube, there were two G-6 found. They both have at least three letters of "liberty"clearly visible. I intend to re sort them, to see how many change the frade! I have about a 1000 to use for the "learning process. Maybe , by that time I will have a good image in my mind to work with.
echizento, you are right, but the grade in this case will not be "fine". With at least three letters , clearly visible, it should be G-6, don't you agree?
