Probably a dumb question, but... where can one sell a quantity of silver coins for actual melt value? (Taking into consideration varying purities of silver, ratios, weight etc...) Is that even possible? Are they in the phone book? (!) Asking not just 'cause I have a stash of world junk silver that, if silver keeps its climb, might become worthwhile to melt, but also in case there are other 'accumulators' who could use such info!
Coin dealers obviously will buy for their "buy price", which can be close to melt if they have high volume.
I assume you are looking to sell to the people who actually do the melting. This I don't know about for silver, but I know that metal recyclers can take copper and nickel. The trouble is that you need a crap-load of it before they'll even talk to you.
Has anybody ever tried calling up a metal recycler?
