I have alot of pennies and other coins that when angled a little bit have a rainbow colroation on them. Why is this?

Hi Laxmaster

That little bit of rainbow color that appears on some coins,,especially copper cents in circulation is oxidation(toning of the metal)its a natural process.

I find many many cents that have this coloration on them, anywhere from greens to really colorful irredecent pinks and greens combined.

although this does not add any value to the coin, I set some of the more dramatic ones aside just as novelty pieces,, I have a box just for them !!
