Ive seen many interesting coins in your pictures and have no idea what they are and some I can even figure out how old or where its from lol.

My current avatar is a silver didrachm from the ancient Greek island-state of Rhodes, circa 330 BC.

The actual coin is oval in shape; Bobby and/or Susan squished it to make it fit the 100x100 pixel square needed for an avatar, making it look fatter than it used to be.

But I don't mind. I'm not as skinny as I used to be, either...

The Gold Star Pagoda issued by the Madras Presidency in India circa 1790. Though it is a coin of India, this one has links to the coinage system used by the early settlers in Australia. It is one of our "Proclamation" coins.

Mine used to be the Bison Nickel, but then an old friend from Arizona made this one up for me and I've had it from that time on. The friend isn't around any longer, but I will always use this avatar that he made for me.

After all these magnificent avatars, I feel a little sheepish about mine. Obviously a Sacky. I do really like the reverse side of the coin.

One of these days, when I can find the time, and get one of our computer-literate kids to help, I'll probably come up with something much more interesting for an avatar.

On the other hand, maybe not. Members, I think, get used to one's avatar and immediately associate it with the poster.

So, who knows. Maybe I'll become adventurous and make a change, or, being one who loves stability, maybe I'll just keep what I have.

Whoops, I almost forgot the question!

I'm going to be changing my avatar soon, because I just sold it on ebay. I got pounded on the price, too.

Oh, the coin? It's a 1879S Morgan, DMPL obverse and PL reverse.

That's true, I'm used to look at the avatar to see the poster and sometimes get confused for a sec. Some avatars are sed by more than one person:)

But sometimes you feel it's time to make a change:)
