hello to all, well its time to get a bunch of opinions on this rare High grade beauty... It was sent to 2 different grading services and both had completely different views as for the grade.. I have my opinion also which I will share later....Thanks to all who care to pitch in...

I use my own grading system derived from the ANA and I'd call that an XF- if I owned it. Looks like it might have been cleaned a bit.

well I can honestly say the coin has not been cleaned.Fully original according to both grading companies .. There is also some mint luster remaining.. Guess I should mention it has been scanned and its harder to get the full detail .. Thanks for the input...

Hi coinsrfun , well so far you are the closest but wait there have only been 2 replies ( ha ha ) just kidding .... I will tell you this much , The low ball company actually down graded the coin nearly 2 full grades .. What a laugh , You will understand why when I let you all in on the grade.... The only reason I had it regraded was curiosity. 1 company from the US the other Canadian....

Oh and thanks It is a very very nice coin, I scanned it through the flip , Guess I should have removed it... By far the nicest 1864 I have seen in a very long time...

Like I said I would let you all in on the 2 grading companies... # 1 was NGC grade AU58

next ICCS grade EF 40, Of course it came back out of the second holder and back in the book... How do you explain a drop in grades nearly 4 full points? If they had said AU 55. I would have been OK with that, AU I would have questioned but again OK, But now anything lower just blows my mind.. This is why when it comes to grading companies who needs their Opinion.. We all have our own.. Someone in the forum hit the nail on the head when they said..What we need is companies to Authenticate only , not grade.....

From the scan I was going to give it an au, hard to tell much more in the scan.I was also curious about the line going through the R in REG, wasn't sure if it was a scratch or die break or something from the scan.
Great coin regardless.

it's a solid XF. anything beyond that shows why you don't buy NGC or PCGS CDN coins
