Without doubt, this coin has been one of the most elusive ones to find recently. I finally got my first one about two weeks ago, and luckily enough, two others today in different places.
Anyone able to find these in profusion anywhere?

Yeah!.. you're right WpgLwr, they do seem to be scarce, I have picked up a half dozen or so though. Maybe, they will be a sleeper.

I think possible sleeper is right.
These were supposed to be released in August 2008, but for some reason, they never came out until June or July this year, and were released with the 2008 date on them.
Immediately, there was much said about them having the "wrong" date on them, and I am sure that more than one roll of them has been hoarded by someone thinking they're worth big bucks because of the "error".
It's obvious that they weren't ready to go last year, for whatever reason. I'd like to know why there was such a delay, but suspect that it had something to do with the Mint "just getting behind" and not having enough time to get to them, and they were run off when enough time was found to do so. It would be interesting to know what the mintage figures were, but like I say, they seem to be scarce.
Incidentally, over the summer the Mint did some landscaping, putting in some forty-odd flagpoles and raising foreign flags on them, apparently the flags of all of the countries they have contracts with. Doing so much production out of one building must lead to scheduling problems, one would think.

You should be able to get them at any RBC branch. That's where I got the last few Olympic quarters that came out.

Quote: You should be able to get them at any RBC branch. Emphasis on the "should". Thing is, any RBC I've checked ran out of them quickly. They were supposed to be released last August and weren't. People asked for them, RBC didn't have them, and they took names and numbers from people asking for them. When they were released without warning, people were called, and around the same time, there was a rumour that they were going to be rare because they "had the wrong date on them", and people coming in bought rolls of them. They disappeared quickly at every RBC location here, and the people who bought them are hoarding them in the hope that they are going to go up in price. This is why you see few in circulation, I'm told. Sad thing is, they were only released a year late, so they won't be worth much above face, if at all, because they're all dated 2008, and there aren't going to be any dated 2009, contrary to what some people think.
