The only words you hear now are Crisis and more Crisis and this has made disappear good coins from the market. Fortunately, sometimes you can find little treasures. This coin is an example. Silver 2 kronor from Sweden, 1921, commemorative of the 400 years from the Gustav Vasa election as Sweden regent after leading a rebellion against Christian II of Denmark.

I paid 6$ for it. What do you think?

Kreuzer Very nice coin at a good price. The mintage is not large only 1/4 million or so and $6 is just over melt. I am concerned that coins like this one are potentially melt targets. The coin looks cleaned and since it is not pristine the premium value is low.

With no ready market today, there is a temptation to consign them to the melt pot.

BUT - that would destroy the coin itself and they are not making any more of them. As a collector, I feel an obligation to preserve even less than pristine coins for future collectors. I tend to want to protect coins just like this one from melting and because of that I have a large inventory of very similar items in my collection.

Swamperbob, I think you are right, and I was very surprised when I saw the photos because with the coin in your hand, cleaning lines were not visible. I don´t worry because I´m not interested in selling the coin. But I´m afraid crisis is going to send to the melt pot too many coins and when demand rises up again...

It's a shame coins like this get melted, because it's a nice design of a historical figure.
$6 is great any way you look at it.
