Oh my goodness...... Paul- that 1923 Buffalo nickel is stunning. I know it is probably just a lighting artifact, but the date appears doubled, especially the "3". Not sure if there is such as thing, but I'll look into it to satisfy my curiosity. Srs77- I'm loving the colors on that '21 Morgan. I can't believe you didn't get a  from Cascade! |

Trout. Those "brush lines" on the dime are on the planchet they are roller lines not obliterated by the strike. These are 100% naturally toned This is fact not subjugated to opinion. Srs, yes I missed it. Very nice for a 21  |

Like I said your ideas about what is or isn't AT are quite different to mine. If these are indeed "Roller Lines" How do you explain the lines that run almost at right angle to them on the coin?   Edited by trout1105

to me it looks like an interesting mix of roller lines and die scratches and Die Deterioration. Feel free to call me Will.

It is an exceedingly rare occurrence that "Die Scratches or "Die Polish lines" carry on through the devices and design on a coin as these are recessed on the dies and very rarely get touched when a die is cleaned/polished.
"Die Scratches or "Die Polish lines" are also raised on the coin and not incused or flat.

Dollarman is correct. The majority are roller lines mixed with flow lines and polishing lines.. The majority diagonal ones, that also go through the devices, are roller lines. It's a tricky coin but this is coin 101 stuff trout. You're entitled to your opinion though. FYI, can we go fight on the Carr thread? I feel like a good ole Carr fight |

There is nothing "Tricky" about these coins at all. They simply have chemically assisted toning on them, Hows that for "101"  |
