Hi,
This may have been asked before, sorry but I couldn't find it.
Is there a list of Mexican 8 Reale Mints, Mint Masters and Assayers on the Internet or in a book I can buy that does cost a lot?
I recently got Wayne Raymond's The Silver Dollars of N and S America, which is good but just provides info on Mints without a lot of detail.
I'm interested in the Spanish Colonial bust series from 1772-1822 and the Empire and Republican coins 1822-1897.

Here is a good source of information and lists of dates/assayers for all the Mexican coins. Prices are out of date and several errors in the book but a nice reference. Standard Catalog of Mexican Coins/ Colin Bruce/ 1981

For the cap and ray coins, the best reference is "Resplandores" by Dunigan.

I have just arranged to get A GUIDE BOOK OF MEXICAN COINS (1822 to Date) by Buttrey (1969) which has Mint and Mint Masters/Assayers by date with values for silver coins. The review I found indicated that this was one of the first books to do this. I could not find reviews for the other books, and I got this one on ebay for $29 although Amazon has the paperback for about $19 they do not ship to New Zealand.

Good luck in your collection. I have collected Mexican 8's for 32 years or so. If you have any questions or want images of any particular coins from the Mo mint, let me know.
