I was curious what this might be worth, and what condition it might grade. I found it at a flea market for 5$. Though there is a large scratch (unfortunately) on the reverse, I was still happy to pick this up.

There is a large amount of doubling on the reverse in "Five cents" and "Monticello", I believe this is the veriety listed in both the CherryPickers Guide and "Strike it rich with pocket change" book.

Nice find. The scratch does put the price down. Maybe Wheezydog would know about what price range?

If the coin were not scratched, it would grade AU50. The scratch would knock the price down a bit.

A rough guess with the scratch would be somewhere between $100 and $150 to the right buyer. The scratch hurts since it is the side of the coin that people want to see.

Thanks,
Bill
