I am thinking of removing the sealed plastic case enclosing this coin, its a 1999 proof issue, 0.925 fine, 38mm diameter coin. It's not the slabbed plastic.

Is there a way to remove it from it's plastic case without scratching the coin's surface? comments appreciated, thanks!

Why remove the plastic? Could be done but a scratch across the front would surely make you mad.

Wear clean cotton gloves and be very-very-very careful.

I have always tapped mine with a hammer to break the glue/seal and then us a small flat head screwdriver to pry it open and pull the top off.

Thanks! sorry for my late reply, just went through a little typhoon here, want to open it to just handle it, I find the feel of the metal better than plastic. Hope it does'nt depreciate too much in value.

Thank you Nelrak, that sounds ok, will do
