Anyone know how to identify each type of these coins? I found a website that pictures both but I'll be darned if I can see any difference in the pictures (http://www.gxseries.com/numis/japan..._modern.htm)

Thanks!

I immediately noticed that it is my website and I'm glad you took a look at it.

The key difference between the two coins are as follows:

Japan-Showa-14-1-Sen-Type-A-And-Type-B-Y-56

Japan-Showa-14-1-Sen-Type-A-And-Type-B-Y-56

You are looking at the character four which should look like this:

Japan-Showa-14-1-Sen-Type-A-And-Type-B-Y-56

If you look carefully at the strokes inside the box, type A would look something like this: / |_

Type B on the other hand looks like this: _| |_

Type A is definitely scarcer and I had to take a few months just to locate an example.

If you happened to have an example of the coin, please feel free to post an image of your coin and I'll identify it for you. Cheers.
