What are some common errors for certain years of coins?

The terms "common" and "errors" don't go together. The whole thing that makes errors valuable is that they are very uncommon.

Additionally, errors are generally a coin to coin thing and can happen on any year's coins at any time. There would be no "list" for certain years where errors occur that don't occur in other years' coins.

I won't call it 'common' .... but one that I am looking for is the 2005-D 'Speared Buffalo' nickel. This error is the result of a die crack and shows as a 'spear' through the Buffalo on the reverse of the coin. You can google and fine photos.

So far I've been through 99,200 circulated nickels and have not found one.

Actually it's due to a die gouge - not a crack.
