Try this one! (I'll be guessing right along with you since it's a raw coin!)

I believe I'll take O-110 for $200, Alex.

Are the A and M in AMERICA joined? Tough to tell from the pics. The gouge on the reverse might be a dealbreaker; otherwise it's a solid EF coin.

Well Moe lets see if I get this one. To me it looks like O.108, The 8 in the date has overlapping circles, the two ones appear to be widest apart. On the reverse I see what looks like tiny spikes on the tip of the right wing. the date looks low with a slender 5, and the I is centered under the T. The A & M are close but they don't appear to be joined. I would grade it at EF-40 due to some scratches. Very nice coin.

I think I also have to go with an O-110.

The 8 in the date definitely is two overlapping o's (good for both the 110 and 108), but the eagle's right wing tip has the "tiny spikes" from the strike, the AM is close to joined. The definitive item is the blotch of metal in the upper horizontal lines of the shield. The 110 had that (as does mine) but the 108 does not. Here are a couple of Reverses from CoinZip.com of the O-110 reverse. The blotch of metal is on each one of the shield horizontal lines.

They sure are close to each other though.

This coin does appear to be a relatively good strike in a series of poor strikes. The left side (looking at the coin) stars (1-7, I think...) are definitely less well struck than the right side, (8-13) ones. I thought it was wear but now, from research, it appears to be from the strike. This coin does also have a good strike on the hair with the bow a little less than optimum. The left eagle wing is a bit less well struck but still pretty good.

I wish it didn't have the gouge on the reverse...

Thanks for playing, CBH researchers!
