I was wondering if you could restore dates on Standing Liberty quarters, just like you can on Buffalo nickels?

I have heard that it is technically possible, but I have never personally seen a method that worked.

It does not work very well and it is also not safe due to the use of concentrated acids. Selective etching works best with a closer alloy composition- nickels are 75Cu/25Ni while coinage silver is 90Ag/10Cu.
