Yep, those pics have been floating around the forums for a couple of years now, and have been discussed in several threads. I first mentioned them in this old thread. Counterfeiting coins has always been a cottage industry in China. Apparently the "cottages" are much, much bigger these days.

I hate counterfeits! Just shameful ripoffs, not even on a precious metal! People in China are scammed everyday by these scam artists.

Compliments of ebay. Why not just ban these Countries from participating. Real easy. You have counterfeits flooding in from uh, China, on a consistent basis. They will find a way to sell them somewhere else but at least they are off ebay.

Counterfeiting US coins has got to be a serious felony, at least in the US. I wonder what happens to people who try to sell them.

Yes, copying coins is strictly illegal, same with counterfeit bills. The technology is getting better, unfortunately. My Local Coin Dealer told me a story once that a guy came in with 100 Morgan dollars which he bought for 10 dollars each off of ebay. When the dealer examined the coins, he said they were fake, and not even silver! I can imagine that the buyer was ticked that he spent $1,000 On Zinc Fakes.

Same thing that happens to murderes, robbers, rapist, auto thiefs, etc. They get caught,go to court, get out on bail, redo the same things they were doing before, get caught, go to court, get out on bail, etc., etc., etc. In so many instances around me someone that is caught for murder is out on bail for another crime and in some instances, murder. In the Chicago area there are approximately 50,000 vehicals stolen per year. Haven't had a Murder rate less than 600/year in a long time and that's only what is reported. And then there are those counterfeiters. What I really hate about those are the ones that not only make fake coins but they now make fake slabs to put them in. You would think the lousy criminals would at least put in real coins in their fake slabs. I wonder if any of them are making counterfeit 2009 Lincoln Cents yet.

I was in China just this summer, and the funny thing is that just by tapping them and listening to their sounds, they are totally fake. But they looked real, and had those added scuffs and wear just like the link was talking about. Unfortunately, on ebay all you get is a picture... PS have any of you heard about that coin test where you hold the center and blow on the rim, then listen to the coin for a ringing sound? It's the technique they like to use the best when trying to sell you coins, real or fake. Just the thought of spit on them makes me a bit sick.
