A few months back, I bought a cheap roll of lib nicks off of ebay. While going through them, I found a dateless Shield nickel. Does this count as finding a Shield nickel while roll searching? I ask because I need to know if this is fair game for bragging rights.
By the way, I researched die varieties and think it is an 1869.
If you have Nic-A-Date, the chemical that restores dates on Buffalo nickels, it works on dateless Shield nickels too. I haven't found a Shield yet with all of the nickel rolls that I go through; still hoping to do so before I am done!
