Heh. The last term I'd use for these results is "feeble."

With an A620 and one bulb, you're absolutely kickin' it. The white balance is spot-on and the colors are nicely presented. In fact, I'm going to critique these images pretty strictly, because you're already well in command of the basics.
The focus isn't perfect. It might be the camera's limit; it might not. If you're already using a delayed shutter and the camera is solidly mounted, try f/2.8 for a faster exposure - it might like that. If your images are even larger than you've posted here (plenty large enough to grade within a couple points), you might increase the distance between camera and coin to see if it likes focusing better.
Or, you could just drag the original images into the Gimp (or equivalent) and use the Sharpen filter:


Dirty little secret: Postprocessing is your friend.

Honestly, I'm having a hard time finding fault with these shots. Your task now is to play around with lighting locations and angles. Maybe acquire a second lamp, and play with two lights. You may be a beginner, but you're obviously not a rookie.
