So, I thought it would be neat to go to a bank and get some $2s, and start spending them. You don't see them often, and I think they could come in handy... I went to my local Wells Fargo, and asked the teller if he had any, and he checked, and said he had 2 fresh stacks of 2003 series bills in the back. So $400 later, I bought them... They are all in perfect condition, and in series. So far, I've spend about 60 of them. Then I'm looking on ebay, and see that people are selling these stacks of fresh 2's from 2003 for about 10-20% markup on face value!! Am I an idiot for spending these? Did I just get lucky at Wells Fargo? Are fresh stacks of untouched $2 bills rare? Thanks for any advice!

A whole sheet is 32 bills. The BEP has also sold partial sheets of 16, 8, and 4 as well (currently out of stock according to www.moneyfactory.gov)

hmm star notes are one, then you have special serial numbers (like a serial number that doesn't repeat any number can be worth a fortune in any denomination) like serial number 1234567890. I personally collect $2 bills just because I think they are weird and because you just dont see them in circulation much, but I always ususally just go to the bank to get them at face value but any of the ones I mentioned above, would bring a premium over the $2 face value

Bryan ..
Do you mean any "star notes" that are consecutive serial #'s are worth a lot?

star notes may not sell for alot but they do sell for a premium, alot of people collect them. Now if you have a star note with numbers like I mentioned (doesn't have to be in that order, just have those numbers)that is a super rarity and people will be all over that.

How about normal $1 bills that have consecutive serial #'s? I have some from 1995.

when you say consecutive do you mean 2 bills with the same number except the last digit is different or do you mean a bill with all the numbers like I mentioned with no number repeated

I have one or 2 of the older 2 dollar bills. With the red seal I think.

rbachman if you sold the set as a lot (all of them together) you may get a small premium out of them but you have to remember anyone that buys a sheet of dollars will get a whole sheet with consecutive numbers on all the 32 bills. So you may get 7.00 plus shipping for 5 $1 dollar bills with consecutive numbers but then only if someone just wanted them pretty badly because like I said they can be had pretty easily. Now if they were star notes with consecutive numbers they would bring a little more

Are the red seal twos worth a lot more than the modern ones? I have a bunch of them in cases from my grandma's old collection.
