Check out the numeral conversion tables on this Wikipedia page; they're very similar to the ones at the front of the Krause catalogues.

The numbers used on most Islamic coins are the ones labelled "Arabic-Indic" in the first table and "Eastern Arabic" in the second table. If you see an "Islamic" coin with odd-shaped numbers, chances are it's from Iran or Afghanistan, which use the Persian variant of the numerals.
