Hi
First, I apologize as I made a mistake by posting the following message in the wrong forum. This is the proper venue. I was wondering if anyone has a guess as to the value of the following Peruvian 8 escudos coins or where I might research this:

1758 NGC-AU53
1759 NGC 40
1793 PCGS 55
1812 NGC 55.

I also have a 1952 100soles NGC 53.

Thank you so much.

That is not an easy question. I think the CV for these coins is probably underestimated. In fact, they don't even give a value of anything more than XF. To get an accurate idea of value, you would have to find similar coins that have sold recently. Here is the only comparator that I can find for the first four coins:

http://cgi.ebay.com/PERU-Spanish-Co...AU_W0QQitemZ290350799118QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item439a41990e

The seller has an outstanding reputation.

The 100 soles is one of only 126 minted. It is the second lowest mintage for the series, which I would assume only increases the value. Again, you would need to find a recent sale of a similar coin to accurately assign a value. The CV for this coin places it between $2000-3000.

Now the real question at hand here; are these yours and where are the pics?

Oops. I forgot about the Heritage archives:

1757 8 Escudos not TPG XF-AU sold for 1782.50 (2003)
1792 8 Escudos PCGS AU 50 sold for $1610

Wow, I guess that the CV overestimates the values of these. There are several other Peruvian 8 Escudos there, but nothing with the same KM as the 1812 8 Escudo. If you want to peruse the archives you can create an account for free:
