I have looked at this coin before but I don't remember seeing the doubling. What do you think of the doubling? I may have posted this before and if so I apologize. Estimated value would be appreciated as well.

That's an interesting detail on an attractive coin!
I see the lines surrounding the word CARLOS, but I'm unfamiliar with this series.
Because it's on both sides of the letters, I doubt it's a DDO.
I cannot say whether it's Die Deterioration, the shoulders of punches used to make the die, or re-engraving. Could be MD?
A lot of help I am! Do you see any "notching" anywhere?

All I mean by "notching" is places where the design is separated.
In other words, it shows two independent processes, versus MD.
My recent IHC DDO pic is a good example of serif "notching".

I am not too sure because of the gunk around the lettering. Maybe I will be be brave and give it a gentle wash with a toothbrush and see if I can see better. It makes me nervous to do though.

Yeah...I wouldn't want to do something that might not be necessary. It's a nice one!
Something you might consider is whether CARLOS was re-engraved to strengthen letters?
Here's an example from NFLD which might be interesting to see how carefully this was done:
