I see the lines surrounding the word CARLOS, but I'm unfamiliar with this series. Because it's on both sides of the letters, I doubt it's a DDO. I cannot say whether it's Die Deterioration, the shoulders of punches used to make the die, or re-engraving. Could be MD? A lot of help I am! Do you see any "notching" anywhere? Maybe I will be be brave and give it a gentle wash with a toothbrush and see if I can see better. It makes me nervous to do though. Report this Post to the Staff

Something you might consider is whether CARLOS was re-engraved to strengthen letters?
