My goal is to buy an unslabbed MS65 Morgan dollar. I don't think this one will make the cut, but where would you put it? It's a great coin and is very reflective. It looks like its just been sitting in a coin bag all these years.

It seems to have some chatter on the obverse, but seems to have nice eye appeal. I'd give it an MS-63.

There is some very nice detail on this coin, but I think that it might have seen some limited circulation. I'm seeing some marks on the nose, temple and face that don't appear to be bag marks but scratches. Could be the lighting, but I'm not seeing any luster and the coin looks like it might have been cleaned. Based on that I'm going to say AU-58. With the amount of details this coin might have been in the MS-63 range.

If that is your goal, you are looking at the wrong date- all of the 21s are tough above MS64 but the D and S are really bad. A 1921S is exceedingly rare in MS65 and would be worth over $1000. Your best bet would be to look for 1879-1882S coins, those were prime years for San Fran issues with many of them gemmy, well struck, and prooflike.
