Its not a bogus error, its an error counterfeit bust half.

Bogus-Error-Bust-Half

Here's a neat die struck counterfeit bust half that is also double struck. Look at the stars at the top right, deformed from the second strike, doubling of the bust above the date, cap, chin, etc. There also is some doubling on the reverse, another eagle's beak above and to the left of the first beak etc. Have a look.

That's really interesting...was it a contemporary counterfeit?
It does not look quite modern.
