Have no idea what this is but bought it as I think its cool looking and interesting. For five bucks its hard to go wrong. There is patina on this token but when I put it under the microscope for viewing I noticed it does scratch easily as there is no rim. I believe this is brass (Copper and Zinc)

Should I leave it for a while or clean it to see what the original token looked like when it was first made

Do you think this may help date this token.....

Looks like how I feel leaving a good Mexican resturant!

I suggest no cleaning until you find out what it is.

Typically I would come up with some ingenious witty remark but my smarty pants processor seems to be acting up. So, seriously, I would try to find out what it is even if it meant cleaning it. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone else of course. I would want to know what it is and curiosity would eventually get the better of me. I would start with research and potentially end up cleaning it. This would mean potentially ruining whatever it turns out to be. I know you didn't want to know what exactly I would do but if you're like me, not knowing could drive you nuts once you look all over and can't find it.

jcook54 I'm always open for all input. As the saying goes "Curiosity killed the cat....But satisfaction brought it back" was my first impulse for considerating if I should clean this or not.

As a rule I never clean any coins or known tokens and as much as I would like to know exactly what this is I have to not only continue my rule of thumb but also heed the advice of others.

ly I may never know but if the day ever comes that I find out I would be so
