I voted for the $2 bill because I like getting them from the bank and spending them. But for collecting my favorite is split between the 12 1/2 cents and the 6 1/4 cents denoninations in obsolete notes. I like their historical significance to the Spanish dollar.

You have the singles listed as "$1" this is a large category in itself.

1896 $1 Silver Certificate (aka Educational Note)

JMO the most beautiful note this country has ever made.

As far as new currency goes, the $2 note for sure!

For classic large notes, I'm torn between the 1896 $1 and the 1899 $5
(but I love all those old horseblankets in general!).

Shop around and see, but beware as the note will burrow a hole in your interests and then you are doomed to be fallen in love with it.

For arguments sake -for what MOST collectors would search for would fall into range of about 300-4000 depending on grade. The extreme terrible and the extreme high end not included in numbers. They become unique priced on the individual circumstance with price tags that match demand outside of any quoted books.

In love with it yet?

I had to wipe drool off my face after looking at that educational note. However I am going with the $5 cause of the woodchoppers, indian chiefs, portholes, the regular USNs and silver certificates.
