How To Clean: Masking Tape Off Silver?

harrison2 Pillar of the Community Mexico 1304 Posts	Posted 10/21/2009 5:22 pm I got a great deal on some 0.72% silver from the 1920's...the biggest drawback is they were all rolled up in masking tape and the gooey stuff from the tape is sticking to em pretty bad. I stuck them in the freezer to help get the tape off and that helped a LOT, but there is still quite a bit of residue. Suggestions? Thanks! Report this Post to the Staff

At the top of this forum is a tab for Search. Use this for Acetone. It should really get rid of any of those sticky things from the tape and the tape also. Just make sure you do read everything about Acetone since it is flamable and if ignited in an enclosed container could explode. Not to worry though since this seldom happens. Just be carefull.
