I got a great deal on some 0.72% silver from the 1920's...the biggest drawback is they were all rolled up in masking tape and the gooey stuff from the tape is sticking to em pretty bad.

I stuck them in the freezer to help get the tape off and that helped a LOT, but there is still quite a bit of residue.

Suggestions?

Thanks!

Try acetone, type it in the search box to the left at the top of the page and read up on it before you use it.

As noted purchase some Acetone. First read everything on this forum for that item. At the top of this forum is a tab for Search. Use this for Acetone. It should really get rid of any of those sticky things from the tape and the tape also. Just make sure you do read everything about Acetone since it is flamable and if ignited in an enclosed container could explode. Not to worry though since this seldom happens. Just be carefull.

Not sure about Mexico but that stuff is usually available at Walmart, Kmart, Target, paint stores and almost any place that handles paints and thinners. And as mentioned there are numerous posts about the usage of that stuff. One going on right now.
