I ordered a couple of things last week and I noticed they shipped one item separate today. I looked and they had added the shipping charge to that one item they shipped. My question is do you think they will try and charge me double shipping for my order? I hope not. I am going to have to call them and ask. Anyone else had this happen? if so what was your outcome? I mean I didnt ask for it to ship early or seperate

No, you will only be charged for shipping once. The Mint actually loses money shipping some orders piecemeal like that.

Bio, I can not help but state, when I hear the Mint loses Money on shipping charges. I do see that they are some what dis organized and " the ship does not sail smoothly", I know they could shipp and send it all and , IMO, every one would be the happier, but when I read the Mint took in almost $11.000.000.00, on the 2009 Unc's Sets, since Oct 1st...Article from coin news..
"Between their launch on noon Thursday, Oct. 1, and to the following Sunday, coin collectors purchased an incredible 297,842 sets. Flash forward another week to Sunday, Oct. 11, and new sales reached 392,007 for a weekly gain of 94,165.
At $27.95 a pop for the set of 36 satin finished coins struck in uncirculated condition, the US Mint has generated nearly 11 million in sales in less than 1 1/2 weeks."
11-Million in 10-Days for Unc sets........My heart bleeds....

Thats a lot.
Did the math... at the rate of 11 million every 10 days, In 24,906.5 years the U.S. mint will make 10 trillion! Gotta love google.
In any case, I guess you guys are getting this through the subscription program, right? If so, how do you guys like it. I've read about shipping complaints on other forums too.

Over the years I've heard many complaints about the Mint. So far since somewhere in the 50's I've ordered many things from the Mint and never had a problem of any kind. Most orders are delivered in less than a few weeks. Never had a cancelation. Not sure but I think the postage USED to be free if you ordered on line. I recently ordered my proof sets and got them almost a week. Now getting ready to order my Uncirc sets. I usually order 10 or more of each and use them and a Red Book for Christmas presents. Keep one or two for me.

Yes shipping used to be free and they used to use USPS for shipping but now I think all they use is FedEx

I have FedEx coming today with two 2009 mint sets.
Well that was an interesting lunch with the hot Chronicles set order and wild posting but it's time to take the kiddies home. Snow flurries in N.Central PA today. First time this year.

I received my uncirculated sets yesterday and eventhough they originally shipped it Fed Ex, with a tracking number, my mail carrier actually delivered the package. It seems they shipped it Fed Ex, to the local post office for delivery. Does Fed Ex and the Post Office have a deal when it comes to delivering packages?

Maybe I'm a little on the scarry side but a few years ago I was home when the FED-X person delivered my Mint sent coins. He walked up to my front door which I had just opened and said "Here are the coins you ordered". I know after delivering some things for a long time that those people get to know what is what but I really don't like an entire company knowing what I collect. I wonder how many others realize that the FED-X people know what is in those boxes?

I had a Fed Ex delivery person say something similar to me a few years ago. She said "Do you collect coins or do you sell them?" I was speechless when I heard that. I felt the same way that you did just carl.

So here is something to think about. Fed X has some hard times and lays off some personal. Some are the ones that know who has what in coins in their homes. This irritates me no end since I make it a practice not to broadcast that I collect coins. Now here is something interesting. Yesterday I received a very large box via USPS. It was the Mint sets I ordered from the Mint. Not in the Fed X system they advertised on the internet. Sort of funny too since the box was big enough for several hundred sets due to all the paper packing yet it was only the 10 I ordered.
