According the US Mint's website the gold proof AEs are being re-priced and are suppossed to be available again on the 18th of May. What is your guess on the new prices. I bought my 3 year old son a 1/4 Proof a month or two ago to put up for X-mas simply because I waited until after Thanksgiving last year and the only one available was the 1/10 oz. I am going to guess $250 for the 1/4.

Regardless of what the Mint does the BU gold bullion will ALWAYS be the better deal as it is based on gold prices every day. I won't pay the mint an additional $60 to $80 for a proof coin because they (their machine) is set up to strike it an extra time or two or they had to polish the dies for the proof look. Bottom line it is gold bullion and valued as such.
