Just thought I'd show this little guy off!

"Commonwealth of England" penny, minted between 1653 and 1659. Reverse shows the Irish and Scottish shields, while the Obverse shows the commonwealth shield, I do believe. Smaller than a dime- about the size of the old Canadian silver 5 cent piece.

Rather than the "Irish and Scottish shields" it's the St George's Cross and the Irish Harp and so they are the Irish and English shields.

I'm also fairly certain that your coin is actually a halfgroat, or twopence. The lettering above the two shields looks more like "II" rather than "I".

That's what I thought as well but I bought it as a penny so figured I'd just call it that
