G'day & welcome,
Sarawak was a country in the island of Borneo.
Charles Anthoni Johnson Brooke was the "Rajah" (= ruler) from 1868 to 1917.
Nowadays, Sarawak is a federated state within Malaysia.
SEE: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarawak

regarding the unusual hair on the 1906 coin:
sometimes, more than one die is used, and the dies have a little variation.

The coins you show look to be genuine, so I suspect that you have a "variety".
Perhaps someone else on CCF will be familiar coins of Sarawak, and will know if this variety has already been discovered.

This could be an unrecorded variety, but there is a possibility that it can also be a fake. With only 10,000 minted and the coins value from $500 in fine condition to $1900 in UNC condition this would be a profitable coin to counterfeit. Check the weight, it should be 13.570 grams and .800 silver. From what I can tell from comparing to other examples on the net and in Krause it looks real to me also.

Interesting history behind this coin! Is your coin the first one pictured? I don't have any specific info on this coin, but I do see that it's minted at Heaton. If 10,000 is the total mintage, my guess would be that only 1 die pair was needed. Therefore, positions of the H mintmark on the reverse would be exactly the same on all. Regarding the hair differences, it may be plausible with that shape for grease or dirt to be easily trapped in the die. If such a thing happened, the hair would be struck differently on the coin. If everything otherwise checks out, that could be an explanation. Welcome here!
