I just acquired this coin and while shooting pics found this. Sine the extra stamping is present on most sides of the lettering could it be considered a triple stamp. (a trifecta)

No such animal. It's uncirculated or it's extremely fine. Two completely different things, and there is no mixing those terms when describing the same coin.

It looks to me like your coin has been harshly cleaned, because no 1880 cent in its natural state would be that color.

Here's an 1864 IHC that shows how strongly "Longacre outlines" can affect the appearance. The original die tools for the legends made by Longacre had shoulders which show up on strongly hubbed dies. Sometimes these are sold on ebay as "doubled dies".

Double-Or-Trippple-Stamping?

The article makes for a good read, but there are some inconsistencies there too. Normally, "Longacre outlines" are not observed on the date of coins minted during this engraver's tenure at the mint. So I question the theory about the date proposed in that article, because dates were punched independently of the hub, using a gang punch of 4 digits. A repunched date occurs when a first date impression is made, the gang punch is repositioned, and the date is impressed again. While the underlying date is usually polished away, some traces always remain. Sometimes dies are re-engraved to correct damaged digits or legends, so in the case of this 1854-O half, there could be several plausible scenarios to explore further.

From the same IHC, here is a detail of the date area. Do you suppose it is a repunched date- or "Longacre outlines". I guess that's a trick question.
