I live in Woodbridge NJ and have a bunch of old coins from when my wifes grandfather past away several years ago. The lot includes coins from the late 1800's through to bicentenial quarters. Is there a reputable dealer in NJ that anyone may know of

Colavita Coins in Ewing NJ seems to be an honest guy. I've bought a number of coins there, and my dad went in to get me a birthday present not knowing anything about coins. He came away with a nice 1934-D Uncirculated Peace dollar for me and paid a fair price.

The are a few on North Jersey too, Glen Rock, still there? Ridgewood, Saddle Brook. I have only dealt with Glen Rock in the past, they give you silver and a little more for collectable coins. No bargain there. Try E bay or the Forums like this one. You'll get a better price

My suggestion is to first find out what you have prior to taking a chance on anyone at all. Spend a few dollars on a coin book such as the Red Book. Also, if you first learn a little about coin conditions, then you could wander around the internet for approximate prices in such places as ebay.

I agree with Carl, the RedBook will at least give you an idea of what you have and a rough value.
