A friend showing me some of his relative's stuff, which included a number of what looks like a bunch of crisp $1, $2 bills, the last ones that we had. Some of them are in consecutive serial numbers.I know almost nothing about bills, anything to look out for? and what would the silver be worth?

I bought the Charltons book on paper money. One really has to check out the serial numbers it seems.
They can be quite valuable if they fall into the specified ranges.

There is also a 'canadian paper money forum' that seems to be moderately active. One thing I've heard to look out for is 'radar' numbers that read the same backwards and forwards. Pre-1967 Canadian silver has 0.6 oz troy of pure silver per dollar face value, which translates to about 10.7x the face value right now.

Check for Asterisk notes (* ahead of the serial number, if 2 letters), then X bills
(X in the 2nd or 3rd place for 3 letter bills). Check for 310 or 510/516 bills in the only series that used all numbers. Check for radar notes, consecutive numbers, repeaters, all the same numbers, and other permutations of numbers.
