I have a "complete" Wheat cent collection. but what defines a complete colection? a full dansco album? just want input from others. My complete is all Biz strikes. My elite will be: above plus 22 plain die 2, 1955 DDO, 1936 DDO die 1. 1941 DDO, 1917 DDO, 1909 vdb DDO, 1909 S/S, and 1944 D/S |

what defines a complete collection to me is whatever you think is a complete collection I am putting together a completer Wheat cent collection and to me that is all the biz strikes P,D,S with no varieties or errors or proofs.but some people will want to include them. i have a State Quarter collection and I think it is complete in my opinion. I have all P and D biz strikes and clad proofs but no silver proofs |

For me, it would be filling up my Whitman albums. I have ten coins to go. For another person, it might mean obtaining all the die varieties for each year. Yet another goal would be to have all their coins be in MS64 or whatever.
In my opinion, yes, a full Dansco album is a complete collection.

For me "complete" is all biz strikes, years and mints. The errors and varieties are just icing on the cake IMO.

I agree with most. Biz strikes for every year/mint. I do like to include all proofs in my sets if its feasible. Alot of people do just go off an album's layout such as Dansco's.

It is funny that Dansco would include the 22 plain but not the 1955 DDO. I guess that there or only 24k of the 55's, maybe they wanted to have all the holes filled so they left out the 55? |

I agree with most of the others. Proofs are nice and usually I add them to my relatively recent sets but not the older sets. Errors/varieties and such are not in what I usually consider a full set, but like others have said they are sure nice and serve as a bonus if available.

IMO it's more important to have all of the basic business
strikes in the BEST POSSIBLE condition that you can find
them and afford them. Spend you time/money on quality.
After that, then worry about varieties, errors, etc...
Just my .02.

Pretty easy, put everything in a will and don't give anyone the key's. I have several copy's of family wills in my safe, because I'm a executer . I don't think it matters if you have a key, unless you have a court order.

No they are listed as OTHER COINS(that I own)---I need to update the list! I now own 3 09svdb's, and I just cherrypicked a 1941 DDO and a 1936 DDO type 1...the fun of coins!! |

By definition, "complete" is all the Biz strikes that others mention.
Obviously proofs are a well-defined subset, but once you start talking about "varieties" or "errors", you are firmly planted on a steep, slippery slope.
