The reason they finally had to pick a few grading companies is because of all the basement slabbers or just people that had coins in 2x2's that were placing their crazy grades in the titles. They had to pick the few companies that they knew were trustworthy. Did they leave out some, of course they did, I can think of a few that in my opinion should be included but they disagree and even though they don't allow all of the companies I think should be allowed to have a grade in the topic they do allow you to still sell them (just can't piut their designated grade in the topic) and they had to do something because I am sure they got allot more complaints from all these basement type slabbers coins selling as MS-66 and up when they were really AU at best and people getting ripped off that didn't know any better

Im glade that counterfeits were on e-bay, the open market pointed them out and now we are all more aware.

do you, or anyone else know WHY in the world ebay does allow
CENTSLES to post their "graded" crap?
it now shows up all over the world as "graded by ...."
even in overseas reputable auctions...... they refer to it as "in CNN graded slab",
implying that it is and suggestion on the reputation of the good graders

No he doesn't, you're just assuming he does. Look at his closed listings, he doesn't fool many. In fact he's likely one of many sellers on ebay that only *thinks* he's making money.

Shoot, now that I look at some of his listings, his grading is nowhere near as bad as some of the others. You mention in an earlier thread that he overgrades all his coins by up to 6 points. I don't see anything close to that in the 25 or so listings I looked at. Some of them actually looked pretty close.

"The reason they finally had to pick a few grading companies is because of all the basement slabbers"

I thought that a major reason ebay picked a few slabbers is that ebay cut a deal with someone to provide them (for a fee) listings of transactions that would go into making online price tables. Only coins from the approved slabbers would be allowed to list a grade in the descriprion. Not sure why this goes on to cover Canadian coins since American grading standards are different (more generous to way more generous) than Canadian grading standards are for circulated coins. ICCS and CCCS have about 87% of the Canadian market, so any pricing obtained by just PCGS and NGC would not be useful.

Hey Scubu,
Have YOU ever had any of their coins in your hands?
I had!! simply by dropping the slab, it opened up!!
contents could easily be changed...
or just twist the slab, which I then tried.... same result.
a 1 cent 1925, graded as an MS 62 was cleaned to be red. the grade?/: barely, with a lot of stretching, EF40. pictures were taken so nothing would enlarge.
Sent all the coins back, 12 of them , 18 months ago, with all the slabs OPEN, with a note that I insisted to also have the shipping costs back because the security of the product was not given. Money came back 100%.
And for your earlier posting, way back where you suggested I get everything mixed up...., My mother language is not English.Would love to see you to write an article or a post in German or Dutch.....lolololo

Hello SCUBU and SAP,
ebay has automatic filters and checks built in for almost everything to detect if one has made a mistake AFTER a listing is posted.
if something is detected, the heavy hammer comes down by most likely removing the listing and sending out a rather insulting and threatening email. You can kiss the listing fees good by.
Why NOT be nice and send just little note saying that it is against the policy and to please change it? it would make this a lot more customer friendly and receptive. BUT hat does not bring another listing fee.

So, why not have these filters effective before a listing is posted?
that is where the dirty claws of ebay come in...it makes no money.
it is not in there interest.
this subject is closed for me. have NOT relisted since this happened.
might even start my own auction setup for Canadian coins.

Perhaps it's your self-proclaimed lack of knowledge of the English language that has perceived these emails as "insulting and threatening."

No, actually they don't. They rely on reports from others. That's why some go all the way through and some don't.

I thought you were a nice guy......but I guess I was wrong.
did you ever have a listing removed? If yes, You do know, if NOT, please do not jump to conclusions.
it stops short, but implies, that the person posting the listing may be a crook.they use different and very threatening words.
they suggest that this falls under the category of counterfeits.... YES..
unfortunately I deleted the email, as it is not worthy to keep.
I have no interest continuing with this post

Thanks for providing the answer, hhbkiddo. There was nothing rude or "not nice" in my post. You jumped to conclusions. You're postings are often read as impolite, but when you're called on this you just tell people to chalk it up to the fact that English is not your first language. My post was a legitimate possibility, nothing more.

I have no problem with hhbkiddo's comments, and find what he brings to this forum quite valuable in fact. Some of the knowledge he has shared here takes a tremendous amount of time and effort to acquire, and so its appreciated.
