with all these threads on this board about the Lincoln Chronicles sets it got me wondering if anyone on here was wanting a set but for some reason was unable to acquire one from the mint, whether it be money restraints or just not being able to get the order placed in time at the mint. I haven't heard anyone say they didn't get a set when they wanted one badly so I thought I would ask to see if we had any members that got left out. If you werent able to get a set for some reason let us know what happened to stop you from getting one if you even wanted to get one in the first place

WOW! so everyone that was wanting one was able to order one on this board? That is great! If you wasn't able to and don't feel comfortable discussing why that is fine that part was just a curious thing I guess but would still like to know if anyone wasn't able to get one and was really wanting one

Maybe the "50,000 Set maximum" was a misprint ? ....

OK
About a month before they went on sale I received a new credit card so I went online and updated my expiration date.
The day of the sale I painfully waited for the pages to load and was able to submit an order by 12:30 and got an order confirmation.
About a week later I get a cancellation "Credit Card denied". I call my bank and they tell me the account had been closed, "Lost or Stolen", they couldn't tell me who reported it lost/stolen and the new card was a different account number.
So my diligence of updating the expiration date was useless, I never knew it was a totally new account number.
No Chronicles for you

Paying $55.95 for a set that was selling at a big coin show for $160, five days after I got it, is 'outrageous', but in a good way! If you really thought that $55.95 was 'outrageous', check ebay... Earlier this year, I bought the LP1 Mint rolls, even though $8.95 was of course 'outrageous' for two rolls of zinc Cents... ...and I bought the Proof Lincoln Dollar at that time, because I was afraid that I might miss the LN6 Set at issue price (which I didn't!). One could very well say that 1909-S VDB Cents and 1916-D Mercury's are 'outrageous', but I just think of them as being 'high demand'.... Edit: Congratulations to rebelman442 for getting the LN6 Set from the 'waiting list'!

There are lots on ebay to be had. All one needs to do is search for them.

Well, here's my story. I travel a lot for work and pretty much forgot...
So, just due to dumb luck, while cruising the web, I thought I'd check the mint site to see if anything new was going on. I saw the Chronicles set and ordered at 10:08pm on 10/15/09. I received it last week.

I got my set(s) luckily. I have 2 that may go up on the auction block eventually, but I will speculate with those for awhile. I think 3-500 prices can be realized in the next 5-10 yrs.
I may be wrong, but its ok, I only have $60.00 invested for the 3 I have. Had 5 sold 2 at the top of market prices.

Bought 3 sold 2 and just like Davis holding onto the 3rd since prices have come down.

I couldn't get my order in. And, by the time I could they were sold out. But, I'm still looking.
