What Caused These Scratches? - Coin Community Forum

hockingzig Pillar of the Community United States 1450 Posts	Posted 11/10/2009 8:07 pm I know the pics aren't that great but they are the best I can do with my equipment. They look like lines left from die polishing but they are not continuous and they are so large. Any ideas? I want to put this in my education collection. Report this Post to the Staff

BH1964 Bedrock of the Community United States 10982 Posts	Posted 11/11/2009 01:19 am Much better image hockingzig! What year is the coin? Can you feel the "scratches" or are they in the metal? You should post this over on the Modern U.S. Variety & Error Coins forum. It could be a planchet flaw. Could be poorly mixed alloy if pre-1982. ANA #R3154474 Report this Post to the Staff
