My coin dealer in Little Rock told me he is not buying these proof sets just too many being offered. Don't know if this is happening on e-Bay also.

I was thinking that the "craze" was really just the "Silver" Proof Sets.....not so much with the "regular" Proof Sets. But, yeah, regardless, the "post-bubble" and vanquished dreams of prosperity ... ... , will, I predict, bring even more folks to "cash in" their 50 State Qtr. collections by the TENS OF THOUSANDS !People will be using the regular Proof Sets as COASTERS for a cold drink five years from now ! ........ There will still be a few who will participate in the "America the Beautiful" Quarters starting next year......but these will do considerable "less well" IMHO.

I'm not too fond of the State Quarters program but it has gotten a lot of people interested in coins. One of these being my Nephew so I'm happy about that. It may not be a valuable program but I'm glad it drummed up some interest.

Quote:The State Quarter craze may be dieing off that's what has happened in my opinion I have thought of selling my set but I like some of the designs so I have decided to keep it as of now. I agree.
The mania has mellowed and with a down economy people are cashing them in.

I say buy them up, and crack them open. Holes get filled much more cheaply that way!

I use the proof .. and mint set .. for more than the quarters. I really like the silver proof half dollars.
If the proof set get cheap I will buy as many as I can.

the 2001 proof Sacagawea went down as well if I recall correctly those were selling for near $100.00 at some time now they are at $25.00-$30.00
