Is that lower horizontal area raised ? (lower curl)

If so, it could be a good sized die chip and that may be enough to have caused Machine Doubling.

Yes, that lower part above the bottom arc of the S is raised.

Try getting images rotating the coin. It could be a die dent or a die crack. I can't really tell if the area is raised or just a line from a die crack. So images might help. The different angles of lighting will help.

Looks like the mint mark took a hit on the mid left area of the mint mark and the Mark above the lower serif could be a die crack or scratch on the die. On the last image you can follow where the line goes NE. I think it is a die scratch though. The area where the die scratch was more in the field seems to have flattened, but next to the devices it remains strong. Interesting set of images.
1 & 2 show marks on the lower serif and the west edge of the mint mark. 3 & 4 do not show this as strong. The die scratch only appears on the last image. See how looking at different angles show something different. That is just what I see, someone may add or confirm if they like.

The other images confirm that it is not an RPM but some kind of damage along the lines that coop suggests.
