inherited this coin from my grandfather who stationed in India as an MP during WWII. Would love to get some information about it, relative value.

To my untrained eye the script resembles Sanskrit.

It looks like a Paisa from Nepal.
Both photos are upside down, so it's hard to read the date.

Indeed, a Nepalese paisa, I flipped the top image and made out a date, VS 1974, which corresponds to AD 1917.
Hand struck during Tribhuvana Bir Bikram's reign (1911 - 1950). This type though ran only between 1912 and 1920.

My Krause lists the following values for 1917:
VG $1.50 F $2.25 VF $3.50
