I dunno...I think a goat ate it.
Your right tho, there was lots of detail left along the band of the crown prior to this unfortunate incident.

Saddened when I see coins suffering soo much pain. Especially when you see Vicky's and Eddy's with holes drilled in 'em or turned into Love Tokens?
I think of how many high grade 1889 quarters met that fate!................................OUCH!

it's one of those coins where the scars are examined instead of the coin details, but it's still a nice coin with a nice peaceful year
