Hi Buffaloboy

There is no age limit to join the Knights,

What is required is a nomination by another Knight as well as your interest in becoming a Knight being known.

The Knights now know that your interested, That is the first step !!

Be patient and keep posting !!

YOu might try going to one of the Auctions on line- ebay most prominent however There are some on Yahoo.com There you will find some Aussie coins. However, I am wondering how owning an Aussie coin became a requirement for being a knight of the coin table. Are there not any other requirements-like having lots of stuff)Knowledge) to share in the way of information. I mean no disrepect to Buffalo boy- but I thought the Knights had set some new rules on requirements- and limits as to how many more knights would be admitted. -Thinking someone has to step up-to get it straight.

The requirement of owning an Aussie Coin to become a knight goes back to the time when crystalk64/Gary_Burke/rggoodie and myself were joking with each other about collecting coins from the "Darkside". Both Terry and Gary saw the beauty of some of our issues and added the collection of certain Aussie issues into their collections.

Terry in a very nice sort of a way was bemoaning the addition of Aussie coins was creating a strain to his pocket. I on the other hand was posting high resolution photos of Aussie issues to tempt him. As a sort of a get back at us, Terry was posting about his "contributions" to help out the Aussie economy.....LOL

We on our part replied by making Terry and Gary A.O.D. (Ambassador of the Darkside). It was about then (very much to the credit of Terry), that the idea of a Round Coin Table was concieved and members of this Round Coin Table will be known as Knights.

The objectives of this Round Coin table was:

1. Encourage collectors to look at coins beyond their normal collecting boundaries.
2. Create an international platform whereby members can trade safely with one another.
3. Educate each other in a mutual exchange of our knowledge and experiences.

As far as I am aware of, there is no preset limit to the number of members. IMHO, the more knights we have the better it is for us to meet our objectives.

As for membership, one has to only meet the following criteria:

1. Collect coins from the Darkside, one of which must be an Aussie Issue.
2. Wanting to become a knight.
3. Be nominated by a knight. The nomination is then tabled in the knight's forum and the Council for comments/acceptance/rejection.

If I have left out anything, Terry will add it on....

Bryan1315 the whole idea behind the group is to GAIN knowledge through trading for that which you have never had. Exchanging or trading in a prompt and fair manner, which we call coin chilvary, is a valued commodity in todays world. It is NOT about making money but it is about sharing some of our respective country's beauty, art and history with other collectors across the great expanse we call the world. Trading, buying or selling in the Realm of the Darkside with a Knight of the Coin Table will be the safest place you will EVER do any coin business. When you start pursuing coins from all over the world you would like to know that stranger who is nothing more than a bunch of words on the screen before you can be trusted without a doubt! The KNIGHTS demand that trust and respect. I, as a Knight, always try to send a little extra as I want to make sure the collector on the other end will feel good about doing business with me. The whole program is about building a collection of coins you can be absolutely proud of for the rest of your life and doing it with honor and respect with the help of friends we will probably never meet! I, with the help of collectors all over the world, have obtained many coins that I would never be able to buy from a dealer in the U.S. or Canada and even if they did obtain them the cost would be prohibitive by the time they reached the dealers over here and then throw in additional shipping expenses and a $10 coin is now $20. I have friends all over the world now and have done some major deals with a few of them. It is a great honor to have a man or woman send me hundreds of dollars to buy gold or silver for them and ship back. I have also purchased foreign coins, (here they are foreign) far below book value as the demand for such coins isn't as strong here in the states, and shipped them back to their home country. One such coin I recently bought for a collector in the Netherlands was worth over $350.00 Euro over there. I got it for $51.00 and that is exactly what I asked the collector to pay for the coin. I was fully aware of the coins value but the connection and friendship is worth much much more to me! He was thrilled at his good fortune and I was happy to put him into such a deal knowing he would continue to support my efforts to obtain the euro. The Knights are a very very SPECIAL group of people with some very unique guidelines to go by. We have discussed the possibility of adding a youth group (kind of an apprenticeship program) but have tabled the matter for the time being. We do appreciate everyones interest in our group and you can believe me when I say "we are looking at everyone as a potential member so someday you, and other young collectors like you, may hear from us." Have some patience and enjoy the greatest hobby in the world and see what comes out of it and where it takes you!
