Is there any point in roll hunting outside the US?

I'm in Mexico and I get the impression that with the number of changes in currency that have transpired over the past century there is nothing in circulation that is worth more than face.

Can someone please correct me on the matter?

I would agree with your statement. So many changes in Mexico's money there isn't a possiblity of finding any silver.

You can always try to search for errors and variaties, but I am not sure if there is a demand for those.

Yeah, I hear ya...I just wish I could do some roll hunting... :(

The best option for me is to order a box and have someone bring it down for me from the states...but that's just stupid.

I'd be better off if I had a krause on mexico coins or something like that...then I could pick up goodies from the junk coin piles and apparently there are one or two in there.

"Rolls" are almost extinct outside of North America. Australia, Europe, Asia all mostly use plastic bags for handling bulk quantities of coins.

"Bag hunting" doesn't have quite the same ring to it.

This old thread discusses the same topic, and points out that America, Canada and Switzerland are the only countries in the world still using the same coinage system that they were using before WWII, and so are the only countries where it's "worthwhile" to roll hunt.

Swiss coins from before WW II are no longer legal currency.. hence roll or bag hunting is not a valid option for older Swiss coins..
