Hi Guys

There is almost always someone here !!

I know you said that your getting large cents, but here is an interesting piece of information about 1968 dimes,, they are struck from pure nickel and some of them were struck at the US Philadelpha mint these coins struck at philly have no mint mark .

Rick

Hi sn31

No this is not the only year that canadian dimes were struck in pure nickel,, The point of my post is that they were struck in the U.S. ,,

I find it interesting and collect foregn coins struck at US mint facilities.

The quarters are a fun series to collect. There are so many commemorative quarters and I have just started to put together a set getting a peice here and there. On ebay I bought the rare 1991 quarter with a very low mintage!

If anyone from outside of Canada would like an eye and an ear on the ground, I'd be happy to keep my eyes open for CDN coins for you. The price is fairly reasonable... I'm looking to expand my world coin set and would happily trade CDN coins for equal value World Coins.

ok.... I have some info on Canadian varieties. In 1965, the Royal Canadian Mint was making plans for a Silver Dollar with a new size of beds running around the edge. They experimented withdifferent sized beads, thus creating 5 varieties for this date. In 1966, some mint workers decided to make a little extra cash by minting 300 or so dollars with the outmoded small beads running around the edge. They intended to smuggle these out of the mint for selling at a later date. Needless to say, they were sucessfull, as nowadays, these coins sell for over $5000!
