To all of you on the Coin Community forums - please allow me to apologize for seemingly to encourage the young members in "asking" for coins. My private e-mails to them has truly reflected the inappropriateness of "asking" in a public forum and reassured them that being respectful on the forums would be much more helpful to them in the long run.
I have worked with the youth communities for many, many years and unfortunately my experiences were of the negative variety. I worked with children that didn't ask - they stole or killed for much less. Perhaps that is why I was so willing to help them. They asked politely, they received our responses and they have all acknowledged their error and willingness to cooperate.
Again, I apologize to all of you.

dsking you owe NO ONE an apology here on this forum. Your intentions were good, VERY GOOD, and that will never in my book require an apology. We all tend to do many things for the good of things and sometimes a few hours later or a few days later we can see a possible flaw in our intentions. We correct what we can and go on with the same good intentions. Quite honestly we need more like you, and there are a bunch of great people here, who put forth positive efforts in many ways. Just do me and all the other fine folks here a great service and that would be to stick with us and keep on posting. Nothing good comes out of total silence and I have seen bad ideas turn in to great ideas when more than one individual got involved!

Terry is absolutely correct !! There is no apology that you owe anyone !!
These young folks that come here are tomorrows leaders, and experts, They will get a firm foundation here because of people - members like you ,, Integrity and character are taught and learned by example.
coin collecting and interaction with other collectors lean heavily on these characteristics,, Together we can turn these words into examples and possibly produce some of tommorrows great men and women who will do great things in this hobby !!

To be honest, you took the time to offer some advice that you felt was appropriate to a younger enthusiast. Nothing to apologize for or be embarassed about. Glad to see the kids reading and doing useful stuff instead of going down other avenues.

I want to echo what everyone else has said no need to apologies you did nothing wrong. your willingness to do this may be just what keeps these young collectors around. I feel this might be the only coin forum out there were they can accually feel at home and get help and not out down becuase of there age.

I know it would be best to let this thread die, but I wanted to post my own views on this. First of all, Dsking, I agree that generosity is never something for which to apologize. I find your intentions commendable and I'm very happy that you are sharing that generous spirit here on Coin Community. You are a very welcome member of our CC family! Buffaloboy, we all make mistakes. It's not a big deal. We all need to remember that you are still young. You are at an age where mistakes are expected. They are all a part of learning. From what I have read, you've shown that you've learned from this and that is the important thing. You are very welcome here and I'm looking forward to seeing your collection and knowledge grow. It's all good!
