I have found two coin stores located in my state and not too far from me. I called them and asked them about morgans and they said they had loads of them from under 30 and 25 dollars each! My dad sais we may go by there one day this week!

That's great! Let us know what kind of "goodies" that you find! Does your Dad collect? Is he helping you? If he doesn't collect then maybe you can get him started too. Enjoy your shopping! Is this your first time to a dealer? Hopefully, they will be open and honest with you and really try to help a young collector. Most of them will!

No I went to a flea market last week. One of them is a pawn shop and the other is a dealer should I go with the dealer?

Here is where I want to buy some morgans online http://www.goldeneaglecoin.com/catalog_c65673.html if I get a chance to the dealer is more than 100 miles away pawn shop is only 15 would the dealer be worth the travel?

I'll concede the answer to Pawn Shop versus Dealer to those that have more experience with both. I have one dealer that I work with exclusively. The more I shop there and buy, the more open he has become. It just takes time. I have no experience with Pawn Shops, however in past years (pre Coin collecting) I have visited them and they have some nice things occasionally. I'm curious what others have to say on this topic.

I would say the dealer, he will have nicer stuff and more quantity of coins because thats all he deals with, the pawn shop deals with everything. Do not mark the pawn shop off your list though, if you ever get a chance just drop in there and see what they have. The dealer would probably be tickled pink to have a young person coming to his shop to buy coins from him and he may even cut you special deals just for that reason if you talk to him and let him know that you are serious about collecting.

another good place to look would be to go to the members ebay pages. most of themm sell morgans and you can trust everyone there. there is a link at the left of the page. also make sure to buy a coin price guide of some sort either a RedBook or a coin magazine that way when you buy your morgans you do not overpay. good luck and have fun with those

If they carry any books dealing with coin collecting they will probably have a RedBook for you, it's pretty common and about anyone who carries numismatic literature has it. You might even find one in your local library, maybe an old one but it would still have a lot of very good information.

coolg,
If you need a book I have a 2006 Blackbook price guide I will donate to you. Just email me your mailing address and I will send it to you free of charge for a fellow Morgan collector.

The 2007 Red Books are out too now as mentioned in another thread. Remember, the books themselves are collectibles, especially in hard bound, and don't mark them up if you want to collect them too. Also, the Red Books are only GUIDES! There are a lot of mysteries associated with coins (i.e., errors, DD's, etc.)
