Told you earlier that I am fascinated by these early 'classic' US commemoratives ....... so after the turkey was digested I went E-Bay hunting and scored what looks like a beautiful MS 1934-D Oregon Trail.

Can't wait for it to get here ...... will hopefully be able to snap some reasonable photos for you all to check out.

BTW ..... these things are expensive!

Lots of E-Bay auctions for nicer coins were closing at over $200 each ..... and a very pretty Gettysburg sold for nearly $1000!

Seems to me like it would take a working man many, many years and some luck to collect a complete classic set.

Waiting for my new coin ......

David

Thanks Bobby .....

I have been there and spent hours already reading the stories behind these coins ..... amazing info you have managed to pack away here.

Question for you ..... am I breaking any rules by printing out for my own use the stories behind any coins I manage to collect?

1936-S Oregon Trail was my first commemorative coin.
2004-P Lewis and Clark was my first modern commemorative coin.

Both of them are very beautiful. I enjoy reading the story behind these coins with my two boys.
