found two, different dates, both with extra ear parts. And though I'm probably just looking at MD, I'm not afraid to admit fault. But maybe. . . . ?

You got it right. if it were hub doubling the doubling would be rounded and not flat.

COOP, it is rounded and not flat. I'll have to get another photo. This is confusing to me because in the past, I put up one that was very similar exceipt the other was flat and I was told "this ones a hit!" And no mistake that from any angle this one is definatly rounded.

There is also doubleing on the inside of the lobe

I see doubling in both places pointed out. I bet if you look at other devices on the obverse & reverse, you will find more Machine Doubling present.
